Phil has extensive and wide ranging experience in transport strategy and planning, working in government, as a consultant, and a professor.

He developed this course because he saw many professionals did not have a sound transport planning base, which is required to understand how to provide practical, value for money plans.

This course will provide students with the opportunity to acquire or enhance the professional skills required to undertake transport strategy and planning projects.

Moving People Strategy
Establishing the context of a transport strategy is a key to success. You will critically evaluate Moving People strategic plans to identify and apply best practice transport planning frameworks. Being able to identify and engage key stakeholders is critical to getting support for your Moving People strategy.

Moving People Planning – Supply
Each of the primary modes of Moving People need to be considered – road traffic, transit, walking and cycling. You will learn the characteristics, challenges, and planning principles for reliable and safe movement.

Moving People Planning – Demand
Planning for Moving People starts with understanding travel demand and travel behaviour. You will explore the linkages between land use and transport and the implications for travel demand and evaluate the options for changing travel behaviour.

Moving People Results
Moving People plans need to consider implementation and delivery, including how to develop and evaluate options, through to monitoring results. Developing a Moving People strategy have to consider current and emerging trends and disruptions – you will provide flexibility to adapt to new directions.

You have access to all the online materials which covers short videos, notes, links to readings and references, tools, case studies and application exercises. You will have access to a private community forum where you can post your thoughts, ask questions of your colleagues and the instructor. On successful completion of the course, you can get a certificate of completion.

We suggest you block out in your calendar 45-60 minutes, 2-3 times a week over 4 weeks. You can complete the course at your own pace.

You can post questions in the forum and you have email access to the instructor. 

After enrolling, you have ongoing access to this course for 6 months.
